Barb

 Barb

is one of various ray-finned fish species in a non-phylogenetic group, with members in the family Cyprinidae, and especially the genera Barbus and Puntius, but many others also. They were formerly united with the barbels in the subfamily Barbinae but that group is paraphyletic with the Cyprininae.

Gold Barbs a hardy community fish that's easy to care for. In nature they are green, but the gold-colored hybrid has become so popular that it is usually the only color available for sale. They should be kept in schools of a half dozen or more, and they get along with other peaceful fish.

Most barbs are omnivorous and will thrive on Aqueon Tropical Flakes, Color Flakes, Tropical Granules and Shrimp Pellets. Frozen and live foods can also be fed as treats or to help induce spawning. For best results, rotate their diet daily and feed only what they can consume in under 2 minutes, once or twice a day.
